Green Heron gliding gracefully over Lake Ballinger, WA
First time seeing one wintering here, usually see them between Spring and Fall.

I was surprised to spot this beautiful Green Heron (Butorides virescens) on one of my outings to Lake Ballinger this winter, gliding gracefully over the tranquil lake, displaying the beautiful colors of their vibrant wings. I usually see them here between Spring and Fall. Evidently some of them are wintering in Wester Washington to my delight.
