Thanks for adding me to mementomori.social! I've always been bad about doing intro posts, but want to be more than a lurker, and look forward to using the increased word count on Mastodon.
I'm in Oregon in the U.S. My interests revolve around permaculture, gardening, building things and reusing things. I love vintage computers, game systems and old tools in general. I'm father to a 22 yr old and a six yr old, a husband, a brother, and friend to a black cat, a corgi, and five hens.
I'm currently a caregiver for my 82 yr old mother, and current large projects are building her a cottage after her house flooded during an ice storm, and then managing the remodel and renting of her former home.
I love reading and writing. I've collected around 2000 books, most of them sci-fi and fantasy or fiction short stories. I love thrifting, although I'm trying to cut down on the random objects I bring into our house.
I'm a novelist, and have published 12 science fiction novels. I currently work with Aethon Books and the Wooden Pen Press. I'm a member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association, as well as co-chair of the Wordos writing group.
Generally, I'm trying to slow down and be intentional about life, organize the objects that are already in my life and appreciate the people around me. I've been feeling overwhelmed the last few years, not feeling creative beyond necessity. I would like to create for creativity's sake, rekindle some of the magic in my brain, appreciate and enjoy what I have.
Anyway, thanks for reading. I also use Mastodon to save links and other snippets I find interesting. I try to mark anything I didn't write, but I don't always have a hot take about something when I save it.
